Madonna's son David Banda explains 'homeless' mess – Music News
Madonna's son, David Banda, has dispelled suspicions that he had no home and was struggling to pay for food after fans worried he was homeless.
The 18-year-old aspiring musician is the adopted son of pop singer Madonna, 65, and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, 55.
David sparked alarm last weekend when he made comments during an Instagram Live discussion which suggested he was homeless and couldn't even pay for food.
But now he is assuring fans that he is doing fine, declaring in a statement he shared on Instagram on Monday: “To all those who are concerned: My mother supports me very much. She has always supported me. I live a very happy life and am not living starving on the streets! Don't worry, everything is fine.”
During a live stream via the app on Saturday, David caused alarm when he revealed that he lives in the Bronx with his girlfriend, 21-year-old model Maria Atuesta.
“It's a great experience to be hungry at 9 o'clock at night and realise you don't have enough money to buy food and then have to go looking around. It's fun to be young,” he said at the time.
His comments sparked furious speculation about his living circumstances, with many fearing he had fallen into poverty, despite his mother being worth a reported $850 million (£657 million) and his father $150 million (£116 million).
David reportedly earns his living as a guitar teacher, advertising lessons on social media for $200 (£154) an hour.
