Metallica to hold “All Within My Hands” charity concert in December – Music News

Metallica have announced details of their “All Within My Hands” charity concert and auction.

The heavy metal giants' foundation will hold a fundraiser on December 13th with the Helping Hands Concert & Auction and YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.

Late-night talk show legend Jimmy Kimmel will host the show.

Tickets go on sale Friday (July 26, 2024) at 10 a.m. PDT.

The charity, which supports “workforce education, fighting hunger, and other important community services,” has raised a massive $15 million for various nonprofit organizations to date.

The Metallica Scholars Initiative is also expanding.

Metallica brought St. Vincent to perform at a concert last year, along with Greta Van Fleet.

Among the organizations that benefited from the funds raised were Baby2Baby, First Star, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, mikeroweWorks Foundation and The Skatepark Project.

The band's star-studded 2021 covers album, The Metallica Blacklist, grossed a staggering $1 million (£824,430).

Metallica and collaborators, including Miley Cyrus, Phoebe Bridgers and Chris Stapleton, have chosen non-profit organizations to which the donations will be sent.

Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation donated $100,000 to victims of the devastating California wildfires in 2018.

The “Nothing Else Matters” rock band consisting of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Rob Trujillo and Kirk Hammett formed All Within My Hands.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigns following assassination attempt on President Trump

House Democrats and Republicans are working hard to determine how a gunman managed to get onto the roof of a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, with full visibility and nearly killed former President Trump, but there is speculation that little progress will be made as lawmakers are expected to begin their 12-week summer recess this weekend.

Fox News' Aisha Husney spoke with Neil Cavuto on “Your World” to discuss the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and the bipartisan effort underway in the House of Representatives to investigate the assassination attempt on President Trump.

“House Democrats and Republicans are telling me it's a good thing she's gone, that's what they wanted,” Husney said, “but they're saying it won't change anything and it's not enough, so that's why the Speaker and House Democratic leadership are basically working together to create a new task force to look into the issue themselves.”

“This committee is made up of Republicans and Democrats, and lawmakers have a lot of interest in participating in this task force to try to figure out what went wrong,” she continued. “Some of that oversight is already happening today. The chief of Pennsylvania State Police came to Congress to testify before the House Homeland Security Committee and revealed that two officers from the Butler County Emergency Services Unit were in that building, the building where the shooter was sitting, and to his knowledge, they had a clear view of where the shooter climbed onto the roof of that building, and were apparently directed to move and look for the shooter. And now lawmakers are wondering who gave those orders.”

Husney said Cheatle was scheduled to appear at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing but was unable to attend because he had resigned.

FBI Director Christopher Wray was also scheduled to attend the hearing, but will instead appear at a hearing on Wednesday.

“But I want to point out that while lawmakers want to get to the bottom of what happened, there's talk that Congress could be on summer recess for weeks, about 12 weeks, after this weekend,” Husney said. “So I don't know what will be resolved by Friday.”

The “360” hitmaker explained that the genre is natural to him and that he had no desire to root his hyperpop record, “Brat,” in any other style.

“I found out the movie was being remade by director Daniel Goldhaber. We met and talked, and he said, 'You should be in it.' And I thought, 'Wow, that's amazing.'”

“I really did get the disease.”

The film will be released in a documentary-like format detailing some of the most horrific murders of the time, following a similar format to the original, and while much of the footage is staged, it has some real footage, which sparked controversy and led to it being banned in several countries.

Lupe Fiasco denies rumors of feud with Kendrick Lamar – Music News

Lupe Fiasco insists he's not feuding with Kendrick Lamar.

At the X-Space event over the weekend, the rapper was asked by a fan if he and Kendrick are still feuding.

In response, Lupe (real name Wasal Jaco) maintained that he has no issues with the Not Like Us rapper.

“I'm a Kendrick fan, but it's not just the music,” he declared. “I love his creativity and his conceptualization. And I love the decisions he makes. And I love the impact he's had on black culture. I love that he's an inspiration to black people. So I've never said I don't like him.”

The “Kick, Push” hitmaker continued, “Even though I don't like all his songs and I haven't listened to all of them, and I say the same about Drake, I understand the impact they've had on the culture and I would never, never, never, ever disrespect any of his songs because to me it's us first.”

Additionally, Lupe challenged fans to provide evidence of any discord.

“I don't have a problem with the guy. Show me where I clearly said I don't like him. Show me that and we can move on,” the 42-year-old insisted.

Kendrick, 37, has yet to respond to Lupe's comments.

During the conversation, Lupe said he wished he had access to a creative environment like that of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), the record label that originally represented Kendrick.

“There's one thing I wish I had, and that's the open and vulnerable version of myself that I've always been like, 'Oh, I wish I could be that.' I wish I had the creative space that they created at TDE,” he added.

After President Biden announced Sunday that he would not seek reelection, national security experts are keeping their eye on America's main adversaries as Sen. Kamala Harris enters the race for the White House.

The sudden change in the Democratic presidential front-runner is raising concerns that leaders of authoritarian countries such as Russia, China and Iran could exploit the chaos for their own gain as Democrats scramble to craft an agenda to counter Republican nominee Donald Trump.

On the surface, countries like Russia and China have revealed little about how they will react to the certainty of a Biden administration and the changes it may bring to America's military posture overseas.

Trump shooting inspires Russia, China plans to divide US ahead of election

“There are still four months until the elections and a lot can change in that time. We need to be patient and closely watch what happens. The top priority for us is the special military operation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Sunday about Russia's war in Ukraine.

He also told reporters on a conference call that Moscow was “not that surprised” by Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race.

“What has been happening in the United States in recent years has taught us not to be surprised by anything,” Peskov said, according to Reuters.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning was even more coy, saying “the presidential election is America's own matter.”

“I can't comment on that,” she added at a press conference on Monday.

Over the past 24 hours, questions have been raised about Harris' qualifications regarding U.S. national security as global tensions continue to rise to levels not seen since the Cold War.

“Now that President Biden has dropped out of the race, Russia is paying close attention to whether Kamala Harris will indeed become the Democratic nominee,” Rebecca Koffler, a former State Department intelligence officer and author of “The Putin Play,” told Fox News Digital.

Republicans split over Russian security threat as Vance joins Trump's running mate

Some reports citing U.S. intelligence officials have suggested in recent weeks that Russian President Vladimir Putin would back Trump, but international security officials, when asked by Fox News Digital, expressed skepticism that Moscow is truly backing either candidate.

“Putin and the Kremlin have no particular preference for who becomes the US president, because US policy has been consistent for the past 40 years. [of whether] “A Republican or a Democrat has taken the White House,” she said.

Experts are already looking at how any sudden changes to the 2024 presidential election could be exploited by his arch adversary, with Kofler saying, “The Russian press is seething with reports about Vice President Kamala Harris that Russia portrays as incompetent, vapid and clueless.”

Some reports have said that Harris's relative lack of foreign policy experience means she may rely heavily on her advisers and is therefore unlikely to take a significantly different approach to Biden on major international issues such as the Ukraine war.

Where Harris differs from the current president is with regard to the relationship between the United States and Israel.

It is unclear what Harris' stance on the Middle East issue will be and how it will affect U.S. policy if she is elected. As vice president, Harris has taken a stronger stance than Biden on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, but her strong criticism of Israel is likely to be unpopular even among moderate Democratic supporters.

“It's unclear how key issues in the region, from Iran to Israel, will change under a Harris administration,” Behnam Ben Taleb, an Iran expert and senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told Fox News Digital. “But the way Harris and other national security officials around the Democratic Party think about the region seems to be that less is more when it comes to the region. But that thinking has paved the way for the Islamic Republic to rise to power.” [of Iran].

“The transition period can be a turbulent time even for democracies,” Taleblu said, adding that Iran could use Biden's election withdrawal to its advantage.

“My concern is that while the change in the top Democratic presidential candidate may have been made to appease domestic audiences, there are real questions about what the chaos will look and sound like overseas,” he added.

Iranian security experts pointed to Tehran's expanding nuclear program, its increasing reliance on militant groups to fight a proxy war in the Middle East and its rapidly developing ties with countries such as Russia as examples of growing security threats from Iran.

“If the administration appears disorganized and distracted, these situations could easily escalate,” he said.

While Harris never led efforts to address major international security threats as vice president, she served on the Senate Intelligence Committee as a senator and was familiar with White House policy strategy and top-level intelligence.

'Roll Up Your Sleeves!' Queens of the Stone Age Announce Update on Next Album – Music News

Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has admitted that he doesn't intend to wait another six years to release his next album.

The rock band released their eighth studio album, In Times New Roman…, last year, following 2017's Villains. [his] They did away with the “album sleeve” because there was “too” big a gap between their latest albums.

“There was too much time between the last album and this one,” he said on the Dish podcast.

“The goal is to make things and have fun in the process, so I'm going to roll up my sleeves and dive into this.”

He added: “Nobody in my career has been more of an advocate for telling people, 'You need to listen to this guy.'”

“He definitely told the world about me and my endless talent. He was always like a brother to me.”

Queens Of The Stone Age, who headlined this year's Download Festival, hinted in June that they had a “hidden card” but admitted that they would be embarking on a “bit of a break” first.

Speaking to NME about their plans after Download and the rest of the year's shows, guitarist Troy van Leeuwen said: “I'm going to bed! I think I'm going to take a bit of a break.”

“I understand there are some plans being vaguely discussed for next year.”

Drummer John Theodore adds: “We definitely have an ace up our sleeve, so to speak…”

Chris Brown and entourage sued over assault allegations – Music News

Chris Brown and his entourage are being sued for alleged assault.

The singer and several members of his tour crew are accused of assaulting four men backstage in Texas.

The lawsuit was filed on July 22nd following an incident that allegedly occurred on Friday, July 19th.

The lawsuit alleges that Brown and several accomplices “savagely and severely beat” four people — Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Busch and DaMarcus Powell — in an unprovoked attack backstage at Dickies Arena after a show in Fort Worth.

“The acts of violence included Brown and his entourage surrounding the Plaintiffs, throwing chairs at them, and repeatedly kicking, stomping and punching them,” the lawsuit states. “The unprovoked acts of violence included striking the Plaintiffs multiple times in the head and chest, and ultimately, stomping on the Plaintiffs as they fell to the ground. All of the Plaintiffs suffered severe injuries as a result of this brutal and violent assault, orchestrated and conducted by Brown.”

According to the lawsuit, the four concert-goers were invited backstage where Brown then instructed his entourage to “fuck” them.

“At Brown's direction, Parker was punched in the face and chest, kicked in the head, and stomped for over ten minutes by defendant Brown and his associates,” the lawsuit alleges. “Brown encouraged his associates to simultaneously carry out the assault. Brown and his associates then continued to strike plaintiff Parker with their fists.”

The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages “in excess of $50 million (£38 million)”, as well as actual damages for “monetary loss, pain and suffering, disfigurement, emotional distress and past, present and future medical expenses”.

Lady Gaga has been spotted in Paris after rumors circulated that she would perform at the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

On Monday, the star was spotted peeking out of a car's sunroof, waving and blowing kisses to fans.

The 2024 Olympic Games, which are set to open on Friday, July 26, have teased that they will have a special guest at the opening ceremony.

In the video, the disguised person wears a metal belt and wears an Olympic flag around his shoulders as a cape. “You ain't seen nothing yet,” the video warns. “See you on July 26th.”

Fans quickly guessed that it was the 13-time Grammy Award-winning singer.

“I told you guys this is Gaga,” one user wrote to X after photos of the poker-faced star surfaced. “Gaga will be playing the lead for LG7 at the Olympics. We're super back,” another user agreed.

LG7 is the singer's long-awaited seventh album, and she's been teasing its release bit by bit, even posting a photo of herself in the studio a few days ago.

She captioned the photo, “Happy as always while making music. Feeling so grateful and at peace inside. It's like a meditation. Can't wait for you all to hear what I've been working on.”

The 38-year-old has previously hinted that the new album will have a drastically different sound to her previous work.

“I'm in the studio every day. I've written a lot of songs and produced a lot of songs, but this is totally different from anything I've ever done,” she said during a Q&A at the Gaga Chromatica Ball premiere in L.A. “I love breaking genres, I love exploring musically, and it's really nice to know that no matter what I do, I'm going to be loved.”

Russell Brand calls Biden's resignation an 'extraordinary stunt'

Actor Russell Brand on Sunday said the Democratic Party was full of “duplicity and conspiracies behind the scenes of the party” in response to President Biden's choice of a new candidate after he announced he was stepping down as a candidate.

“Kamala Harris for president? Are we all going to be haunted by what may happen,” Brand said in a post on X along with a video of himself speaking after Biden announced it on the platform yesterday. Biden endorsed Harris shortly after the VP announcement.

“I'm increasingly open to the idea that this is something special, a masquerade, and, as with all masquerades, we must accept that there may be an element of deception and fiction behind it. It's going to be an eventful time for all of us between now and November,” Brand added.

Biden's endorsement of Harris has come as a shock to some, as she has a low approval rating of 32% in an NBC poll, making her the worst-rated vice president in three decades.

But a poll from the AP-NORC Center for Public Policy Research found that 6 in 10 Democrats think Harris is the right choice for the job.

President Trump responded to Harris being the Democratic candidate.

“From a political point of view, [Harris is] “They haven't decided who to appoint, they haven't even talked about an alternative,” he said. “I think she's incompetent. She was in charge of the border, but she never went there, she didn't do a good job, she didn't do a good job on a lot of things.”
