Multiple BRIT Award nominated and double platinum selling South London artist Cat Barnes has announced the short film 'Early Twenties' to mark the release of her highly anticipated debut album on 12th July.
Due for release on July 17th, the short film Early 20s is directed by Libby Burke Wilde and is inspired by the music from Kat's debut album of the same name. Early 20s follows a group of friends who get together for a night out. The film tells the characters' individual stories, from coming to terms with being in their early 20s to insecurities, friendships and identity. Kat also serves as an executive producer on the film.
The short film stars an array of up-and-coming British actors, including India Amatifio (Bridgerton), Sam Reuben (Everything Now), Aiyana Goodfellow (The Outlaws), Melina Sinadinou (Beyond Paradise) and BAFTA nominee Sam Bottomley (How To Have Sex, Sundown). The film weaves together the narratives of Kat's music videos for her singles “alone,” “end game” and “met someone.”
Libby said, “Being asked to write and direct a short film based on an artist's lyrics and songs was a dream project for me. It was an amazing experience to be able to combine my love of music videos and narrative film in close collaboration with the artist. The result is a film made with so much love and dedication, and I'm so grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.”
“It's been such a pleasure working with you all on this amazing short film! I think I just wanted to let everyone who watches the film know that they're not alone in what they're going through, and that we're all in this together,” says Cat.
