Busta Rhymes has had an “emotional” reaction to finding out he'll be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
It was revealed last month that the hip-hop legend will be awarded a star in 2025 in recognition of his contributions to music.
Recounting his reaction to the news, Busta told Variety , “I'm not going to lie, it was probably one of the most honorable moments, the most emotional moments, the most dream come true moments. It was one of those things I thought I'd never get, really.”
The “Touch It” hitmaker pointed out that some musicians never receive any awards or accolades throughout their careers.
“There are incredible icons out there who have never won a Grammy, never won an MTV Award, never been a Hollywood star, never been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he continued. “They may live to be 90 years old and never win an award. They may have been recording professionally for 70 years and never won an award.”
“For me, this is a really emotional moment because I'm at a stage in my life where my business, creativity, happiness and joy are on the rise. It's probably the best time of my life.”
The 52-year-old, whose real name is Trevor Smith, has been nominated 12 times for a Grammy Award but has never won one, nor has he won the Moonperson trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards 16 times.
The Class of 2025 also includes Keith Urban, Green Day, Prince, Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and Jane Fonda.
The date for Busta's star unveiling has yet to be announced.
