Biden reiterates commitment to 2024 campaign despite Democrats' calls to withdraw

Biden's campaign has slammed “anonymous” sources within the Democratic Party who have voiced concerns about his fitness to be a presidential candidate amid ongoing questions about the president's physical and mental health.

Campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz touted Biden's television interview last week and his support from black women and Hispanic groups, while also linking Trump to the conservative “Project 2025” plan that has been described as a blueprint for a future Republican administration, a claim Trump has denied.

“Though Donald Trump and the Republican Party claim to have a 'new tone,' their message is the same: revenge and retaliation,” Muñoz said in a memo published Friday night, highlighting why Biden should continue to campaign. “Their convention was focused on kowtowing to Putin, mass deportations, and forcing their 'Project 2025' agenda on the American people.”

Biden canceled several campaign events this week after contracting COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating in Delaware, while Vice President Kamala Harris is on campaign trail.

“And as I have said before, President Biden looks forward to returning to the campaign trail as soon as possible,” he added.

In making his case, Munoz highlighted the Republican National Convention, which concluded Thursday in Milwaukee.

“Attendees held up signs calling for 'Mass Deportations Now,' while the architects of President Trump's cruel family separation policy were the focus of prime-time attention at the convention,” he said.

“J.D. Vance, the symbol of Project 2025 extremism, was announced as President Trump's running mate and firmly advocated for a future of anti-abortion, worsening access to health care, and rising health care costs for middle-class Americans,” Muñoz added.
