Kylie Minogue never expected “Padam Padam” to be such a huge hit.
The “Spinning Around” legend, who celebrates his 56th birthday on Tuesday (May 28, 2024), released the dance-pop track as the lead single from his chart-topping summer 2023 album, “Tension,” and while he believed the song “had potential,” he admitted it's been “so much fun” watching it turn into a global hit and “insane.”
She told Hello! magazine, “I knew it had the potential to be a hit, but I never imagined it would become the viral sensation and pop culture moment it became. It's been so much fun watching it grow day by day. While I was in the middle of the madness, I felt like I was on the outside watching it spread and spread out into the world.”
The “I Should Be So Lucky” hitmaker, who hasn't toured since 2019, debuted a permanent Las Vegas show late last year and teased that his upcoming headline show at Hyde Park BST may have some surprises he “can't wait to share” with fans.
She said: “The residency was great fun – the crowds got more and more enthusiastic and the energy in the room was incredible. I will miss it but hope to return when I can.”
“In between we have lots of other places to visit. I always love playing Hyde Park. There's a special magic in the air and so much love between the stage and the audience.”
We can't wait to share this moment with you all. We might even have a surprise in store!
“The last 12 months have been really eventful. We've been working really hard but it's been really rewarding. We're excited to share this new era with all our long-time fans and it's been amazing to introduce it to a new generation of fans. It's amazing.”
