Cardi B said she felt “peace” when she took a break from social media.
The 31-year-old rapper explained that he is determined not to let haters chase him off social media.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cardi was asked what her self-care “looks like.”
“When I'm at home,” she replied. “When I'm off social media and no one knows what I'm doing, it's so peaceful.”
The Bongos hitmaker said she is enjoying her time away from social media but doesn't want her two children, Kulture, five, and Wave, two, to think she has given it up because of what people say about her.
“But what should I do? Just because it's peaceful, will I never post or work again? No,” she said. “I don't want my daughter or son to give up on anything because they can't stand the pressure of what other people say. I have to set that example.”
The rapper continued, “I'm like, 'You guys can never beat me.' I got something to prove to myself. I got something to prove to the haters. I got something to prove to my kids.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Cardi said some of her fans had complained to her social media manager that she wasn't active enough on her platforms.
“They caught him in a group chat,” she told the magazine. “They were like, 'Hey, we're the Birdie gang and we've got something to tell you guys.' And I think he was like, 'Okay, let's hear your suggestions.' And they were like, 'Well, Cardi ain't done nothing.'”
Cardi has two children with Migos rapper Offset.
