Sean “Diddy” Combs' ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, has broken her silence days after a video surfaced showing the rapper beating her in a hotel hallway in 2016.
Video footage showed the singer trying to leave the hotel with Combs chasing him.
“Thank you for all the love and support I've received from family, friends, strangers and people I've yet to meet,” Ventura wrote on Instagram on Thursday. “The outpouring of love has helped create a place of calm and security for my young self, but this is just the beginning.”
“Domestic violence is the problem,” she continued. “Domestic violence has turned me into someone I never thought I would become. I've worked hard and am better now, but I will always be recovering from my past.”

Ventura urged her 10 million Instagram followers to believe victims when they speak out about domestic violence.
“I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to take this issue seriously,” Ventura wrote. “All I ask is that you open your hearts to believe victims for the first time. It takes a lot of courage to speak your truth from a place of powerlessness.”
“I reach out to those who are still living in fear,” she added. “Reach out to your allies. Don't cut them off. No one should bear this burden alone. This journey of healing will never be over, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.”
A representative for Combs did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

An eight-year-old video recently obtained exclusively by CNN shows Combs chasing Ventura wearing only socks and a towel, providing some support for the lawsuit the musician filed against the showbiz mogul in November.
“Combs was extremely intoxicated and punched Ventura in the face, causing bruising around his eye,” Ventura wrote in a lawsuit he filed and then dropped shortly after.
According to the complaint, obtained by Fox News Digital, Combs was so drunk that she fell asleep, and Ventura tried to flee the hotel, but Combs woke up before he could reach safety.
Combs allegedly chased her into a hallway and yelled at Ventura, then threw her to the ground and broke a vase, court documents state.

Combs broke his silence in a video on Sunday, calling his actions “unacceptable” but never naming Ventura.
“It's very difficult to look back on the darkest times of my life, but sometimes it has to be done. I was at my worst. I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses,” he said. “My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.”

“I felt disgusted at the time when I did it, and I still feel disgusted to this day,” Combs explained. “I sought professional help. I began going to therapy and rehab.”
“I had to pray for God's mercy and grace. I am truly sorry. But I try to be a better person every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry.”
