Billie Eilish admitted she cried after performing songs from her new album live for the first time.
Appearing on Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders, Billie revealed that the album 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' had been in the works for around two years prior to its release on Friday.
“We officially started working on this album in October 2022, and although we had ideas for months, they didn't really gel and weren't very exciting for us,” she said. I reminisced. “We liked them, but…I don't think we can do this anymore.”
Billy said that “Skinny,” the first song he wrote for the album with his brother and co-writer Finneas, “awoke something inside of us.”
The Ocean Eyes singer told a radio host she became emotional after performing her new song “The Greatest,” the sixth song from her album, for the first time in Los Angeles last week.
“The count-in happened and I was sitting on the edge of the stage in front of this small audience and I was like, 'Wow, I've never done this before.' Really this is the hardest for me. “It was one of those things,” Billy recalled. “I really love that song. That song is really special to me.”
She added, “I literally acted it out the other day and cried after it finished.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the Bad Guys hitmaker reflected on the success of her Oscar-winning song “What Was I Made For?” From the 2023 Barbie Soundtrack.
She said the song “opened all the doors to a million things in terms of inspiration.”
'Hit Me Hard and Soft' comes almost three years after her second studio album 'Happy Than Ever' in 2021.
