Justin Timberlake's lawyer claims singer was 'not drunk' when arrested for DUI – Music News

Justin Timberlake's lawyers have argued that the case against him should be dismissed following his arrest for drunk driving.

The 43-year-old Millers singer made headlines on June 18 when he was pulled over by police in Sag Harbor, New York.

He was subsequently charged with one count of DUI and issued two tickets for running a stop sign and drifting out of his lane.

However, the facts of the case are being vigorously disputed by the Grammy winner's legal team.

“He was not intoxicated. I say again, Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated,” Timberlake's lawyer, Edward Burke, told reporters outside court on Friday, The Independent reported.

According to the Daily Mail, his lawyer told the court “the police made a number of very serious errors in this case” and argued the case should be dismissed.

“In court today, we heard the district attorney attempt to correct one of those errors, but it's just one example, there are many others. Police make mistakes sometimes and this is just one example.”

Burke accused prosecutors of “failing to get a senior officer's signature on the original indictment, and the case should be dismissed.”

The humiliation of Timberlake's arrest was compounded by the fact that the young officer who arrested him had no idea who he was.

The singer, who is currently in the middle of “The Forget Tomorrow World Tour,” reportedly muttered to officers, “This is going to ruin the tour.”

When the officer asked, “What tour?” Timberlake reportedly replied, “World tour.”

The Forget Tomorrow World Tour is scheduled to end at the end of the year, with the final show taking place in Kansas City on December 20th.
