The “I Will Never Let You Down” hitmaker is preparing to release a follow-up to 2023's “You and I” sometime next year and is counting the days until he's back on the road, which he calls his “favourite part” of his music career.
Rita told US media via The Sun's Bizarre column: “I'll definitely be touring with my new album due out next year. I wanted to change things up and I've had a lot of fun at all the festivals I've been to this summer.”
“Being able to perform live is my favorite part. I hate the studio. I love seeing the audience and really relate to that energy. Touring is the only reason I put out music.”
Last month, Rita admitted that she was working on the album “one song at a time”.
The 33-year-old singer told Bizarre magazine: “The album is coming along really well. I'm just taking it song by song, to be honest.”
“I don't know if it will be completed this year, but the great thing about my label is [BMG] “I have time and they're really calm.”
She continues to treat her fans to new music, most recently releasing the singles “Ask And You Shall Receive” and “Love Ain't It” with Brandy and Kylie Cantrall from the film Descendants: The Rise of Red.
Her latest album, 'You And I', is heavily inspired by her relationship with Hollywood star Taika Waititi and their upcoming wedding in 2022.
But she hopes to move on from it as a source of inspiration and find a different spark for her music instead.
She explained: “I'm kind of bored of it now. [as inspiration].
“I want to evolve my music and have fun and do what makes me feel good.
“If it doesn't make me feel good, I don't do it. And I've found that to be very liberating.”
