Barron Trump makes campaign debut at father's Florida rally

Former President Donald Trump's youngest son made his campaign debut.

Barron Trump attended his father's rally in Doral, Florida, on Tuesday night and was met with thunderous applause as Donald praised him.

“It's the first time he's ever done that. It's the first time,” Trump said, as Barron applauded. “You're pretty popular. He might be more popular than Don or Eric. We need to talk about this. Look, Don, we need to talk about this.”

“So, Barron, I'm glad you're here. Welcome, Barron,” Trump continued. “He had a very nice, easy-going life. Things have changed a little bit now.”

The former president said Barron plans to attend college next semester and that the school is “his own choice,” but did not say where he will attend.

President Trump previously praised his 18-year-old son as a “smart kid,” adding that the former First Son likes to give his dad political advice.

“He's seen it. He doesn't need to hear it,” the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee previously told Philadelphia talk radio 1210 WPHT when asked by a host if he had advised Barron about “how awful” politics can be.

“He's smart,” Trump continued, “and you don't have to ask him much, but he's a great guy. He's a little bit tall. He's tall, obviously. But he's handsome, he's a really good student, and he loves politics.”

At one point, the boy was planning to take an active role in Republican politics as a representative of his father.

Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power said in May that Barron would attend the national convention as one of Florida's 41 statewide delegates, and the party plans to formally nominate Barron's father as its presidential candidate for the November general election.

However, the plan proved premature, as Barron's mother, Melania Trump, called off such plans the same month.

“Barron is honored to be selected to represent the Republican Party of Florida but unfortunately will not be able to attend due to prior commitments,” Melania Trump's office said in a statement after the announcement.
