“I played because I loved sports,” she said. “I wanted to be the best. I wanted to win. At the time, I didn't even know if I wanted to be the best. I just wanted to win.”

“My tax accountant was like, 'I haven't received the money' and I was like, 'I haven't received the money' and I was like, 'Yeah, I didn't receive it in Zurich and I forgot about it in Moscow'. I was just playing to win so if I didn't win I didn't think about it. I was so angry so I just wanted to get better and think about how to win next time.”

Williams, 42, has retired from tennis and now spends much of her time focusing on her family, including her husband Alexis Ohanian and their two daughters, six-year-old Olympia and 11-month-old Adria.
