Monica thanks Ariana Grande for congratulating her on her reunion with Brandy – Music News

Monica is grateful to Ariana Grande for bringing her closer to old collaborator Brandy by teaming up again for a remix of the single.

Brandy and Monica achieved worldwide success in 1998 with their iconic duet “The Boy Is Mine,” but rumors of tension between the pair soon spread.

Earlier this year, Ariana released a single of the same name that was inspired by the late '90s classic, and last week a remix of the song was released that added vocals from Brandy and Monica, as well as music that referenced the beat and style of the original.

Monica said that since Ariana got them back together, she and Brandi have been talking more than they have in the last 20 years.

She told Entertainment Weekly: “We realized the key was not to let anyone else intrude into our relationship, either professionally or personally, and keeping it just between her and me made all the difference.”

“It just changed the whole trajectory of things. My son was in the hospital the other day and she was the one I was talking to during that time. So I think Ariana has done something like that, even though she may not have realized it.”

The “Angel of Mine” singer added that she and Brandy would also consider making new music together following their reunion, explaining, “Today, tomorrow and for the last 25 years, we are TEAM 'The Boy Is Mine.'”

“We have a lot of work to do in terms of giving the audience what they really wanted from us even back then. We didn't find a way to make it happen then, but we're finding a way to make it happen now.”
