Willie Nelson falls ill and misses Outlaw Music Festival tour start on doctor's orders

Even if you love touring as much as Willie Nelson does, it's not easy to do so at 91 years old. Unfortunately, the country music legend will have to miss the first series of shows on his highly anticipated Outlaw Music Festival Tour.

According to a message shared by Nelson's team, he hasn't been feeling well over the past few days. Per “doctor's orders,” he will be taking some time to rest before performing on the remainder of the tour. The first set was scheduled to begin tonight at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. Nelson will miss the first four shows of the opening weekend.

“We are pleased to announce that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and has been advised by his doctor to rest for the next four days,” the statement read. “He is expected to recover quickly and be able to join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

Existing ticket holders for the Outlaw Music Festival can catch Lukas Nelson and the Family Band performing Willie Nelson classics, while Bob Dylan, Alison Krauss, Robert Plant and Celis are all scheduled to perform as scheduled.

Is Willie Nelson in poor health?

Willie Nelson is 91 years old and still touring and writing new music, which can be stressful for anyone, regardless of age, and this isn't the first time Nelson has had to cancel a show or two for health reasons.

Prior to his recent announcement, there had been no indication that Nelson was seriously ill. In fact, Nelson has reportedly cut back on his smoking habit in favor of cannabis edibles, and he even wrote a cannabis cookbook with his wife.

We wish Nelson a speedy recovery and to see him back on the road soon.
