Justin Timberlake's lawyers released a statement following the singer's arrest earlier this week.
Attorney Edward Burke said he was keen to defend his client against the drink driving charge.
“We intend to vigorously defend Mr Timberlake against these charges and will have more to say at the appropriate time, but for now we are awaiting a full investigation by the District Attorney's office,” he told the PA news agency.
News of Timberlake's arrest broke on Tuesday, when celebrity news outlet TMZ reported that he was arrested in the village of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, New York, on suspicion of drunk driving.
The outlet reported that the star ran a stop sign near a hotel where he was reportedly hanging out with friends, leading to his arrest by authorities, and TMZ reports that he was soon pulled over by police on suspicion of drunk driving.
Timberlake is currently touring in support of his latest album, Everything I Thought It Was.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office has set his next trial date as July 26, which coincides with a scheduled concert in Krakow, Poland.
No announcement has yet been made about the status of any upcoming tour dates, but People magazine reported on Thursday, June 20 that the singer-songwriter plans to continue performing all of the upcoming dates of his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour.”
Timberlake will perform in Birmingham on August 8th, opening the UK leg of the tour.
