The site reported that Chestnut underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery last week and has canceled all upcoming shows.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows,” Chesnutt said in a post on Instagram. “I send love and gratitude to my family, friends, band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support. I hope to see you all soon at a honky tonk near you.”

Fans then responded with prayers and well wishes.

Chestnutt, 60, had to cancel two shows in November and a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account said he was “admitted to a local hospital undergoing a medical examination.”

News broke in January that he had been cleared to return to the tour.

Chesnutt rose to stardom in the early '90s, releasing numerous albums and hit songs, including 20 that reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Eight of those 20 songs, “Brother Jukebox,” “It Sure Is Monday,” “I'll Think of Something,” “I Just Wanted You to Know,” “Gonna Get a Life,” “Almost Goodbye,” “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing” and “It's a Little Too Late,” all reached No. 1 on the charts.
