The private celebration, hosted by Billboard, Loud & Live and Only in Dade, was attended by stars such as Gloria Estefan, Ana Bárbara and La India, who will receive the Legend, Lifetime Achievement and Pioneer awards, respectively, at the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music Awards on Sunday (June 9). Also in attendance were award-winning hitmaker Emilio Estefan and breakout salsa artist Luis Figueroa.

“We are honored to be here celebrating these incredible women during such a special year for Latin music,” said Leila Cobo, chief content officer for Billboard Latin and Billboard Español, in her welcoming speech.

“When I started working at Billboard a little over 20 years ago, I didn't think of myself as an executive. I was a journalist, so I thought of myself as a journalist,” she continued. “It took me a long time to see myself as an executive, even though I was building a business that didn't exist yet. I realized I couldn't see myself as an executive because I didn't have role models doing what I was trying to do, and I realized how important it is to have role models in this industry.”

Cobo congratulated all the powerful women in attendance, saying, “Billboard takes great pride in highlighting women. [women] Those who have gone before have provided a platform for those who are yet to come.”

Following Cobo's speech, 2024 honoree La India and Estefan exchanged words, touting their beautiful friendship over the years: “You truly deserve this award. You are such an amazing, beautiful woman,” Estefan said. […] “I never get a chance to tell her, but I want her to know that you've always been so supportive of me,” the salsa singer told Estefan.

The Colombian superstar, who is currently in Europe as part of her Mañana Sera Bonito tour, did not attend the event but presented each of the award winners in attendance with colorful preserved roses made by Lovely Roses.

The 2024 Billboard Latin Women in Music will air exclusively on Telemundo on June 9 at 9pm ET.
