Learn more about LANY
American pop rock band LANY have postponed their Australian tour, which was due to begin next week, after lead singer and guitarist Paul Klein was involved in a serious accident.
In a statement, the band revealed that they are already considering new show dates in Australia and New Zealand, and urged fans to hold on to their tickets until more details are known. Once new dates are announced, fans who cannot attend will be able to receive a refund at their original point of purchase.
As for the reason for the postponement, Klein said he was hit by a car while riding his Vespa last week and was taken to hospital on a stretcher in an ambulance, and now needs time to focus on his recovery.
Stating that he feels lucky to be alive, the performer wrote:
Hello everyone. Last Thursday night I was riding home from the gym on my Vespa when I was hit by a car. I don't remember anything after the crash. I woke up in an ambulance on a stretcher. I've cried a lot of tears of gratitude and joy over the past few days. I know how lucky I am to still be here.
“All my vital signs are good, but it is still difficult for me to walk and move around. However, I am gradually getting better and will be 100% recovered soon. Doctors have advised me to reschedule my upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to speed up my recovery.”
For those who purchased tickets for Australia/New Zealand, please hang on to them. New dates will be announced shortly. Thank you for your understanding. This experience has only strengthened my sense of purpose, and I can't wait to recover quickly and get back in action. All other tour dates remain unchanged. I truly love you all and this life. See you soon!
LANY were due to kick off the tour at Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall next Wednesday (19 June), before playing major dates in Perth (HBF Stadium), Adelaide (Hindley Street Music Hall), Sydney (Hordern Pavilion), Melbourne (Margaret Court Arena) and Auckland (Auckland Town Hall).

The band are touring in support of their latest album, A Beautiful Blur, which peaked at number 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
LANY toured Australia in May 2022 with special guest Sasha Alex Sloan. After seeing them at Margaret Court Arena, The Music magazine critic Michael Preveg wrote, “Klein displayed incredible showmanship and strong stage presence, running raps and jumping into the mosh pit at one point, before making his way to the lower seating area to sing amongst an excited crowd below stage left.”
