Anne-Marie believes she was “pulling her own weeds onstage” while pregnant.
The 33-year-old singer, who welcomed daughter Seven just four months ago, continued to tour during her pregnancy for eight months and admitted there were difficult times.
“It was a beautiful thing, but it was certainly difficult,” she told the Daily Star's Wired column.
“I think I've pulled my own weeds onstage a few times.”
Despite the difficulties, the “Rockabye” hitmaker is determined to continue touring and performing as close to the birth as possible.
Anne-Marie, who married rapper slowthai in July 2012, was on tour just two weeks before Seven was born and even performed live just days before his birthday.
She said: “Yeah, I don't know how I did it. It was weird, I just had this idea in my head that I wanted to go against everything people say about pregnant women.”
“Most people stay home because their ankles hurt or their back hurts, but I thought, 'I'm not gonna do that.'
“I was determined to carry on doing everything I normally do during my pregnancy, and I managed to do that until two weeks ago, when I was like, 'Get this damn thing out of me'.”
The Don't Play star is currently adjusting to her new life as a mother whilst continuing her musical career, including making her live return at Manchester's Parklife Festival last weekend.
She added: “It's really been a rollercoaster of emotions. I'm an emotional person by nature but this has made me even more emotional.”
And while one of the key aspects of motherhood is the “hardest” thing she's ever experienced, it's all worth it for her daughter.
She said: “It's hard. I'm breastfeeding and it's the hardest thing I've ever done. But she's the sweetest baby. I never thought I'd be a mother.”
