Billy Corgan's children also appeared onstage at Smashing Pumpkins' sold-out show in London over the weekend.
The American rock band, which features original members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, along with new guitarist Kiki Wong, took to the stage at London's O2 Arena on Saturday night (24/08), and during their performance of “Beguiled,” the 57-year-old frontman's eight-year-old son Augustus and five-year-old daughter Philomena, born to him with wife Chloe Mendel, came out to the audience, waving and dancing cutely.
Fans heard songs from the group's latest album, Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts, which included not only “Beguiled,” but also “Empires,” “Spellbinding,” “Springtimes” and “That Which Animates the Spirit.” But where the band really shone was on the older songs, with the crowd singing along in unison to the lyrics to hits like “Zero,” “Today,” “Tonight, Tonight,” “1979” and “Bullet with the Butterfly Wings.”
Apart from their own songs, fans were also treated to a cover of U2's “Zoo Station” early in the setlist, perfectly showcasing drummer Jimmy's prowess with the sticks.
Before the Smashing Pumpkins took to the stage, Weezer kicked off a rousing hour long set with “My Name Is Jonas,” followed by a cover of Hole's “Celebrity Skin,” which Billy co-wrote, followed by sing-along songs “In the Garage” and “Hash Pipe,” before closing with the classic “Buddy Holly,” which sounds as fresh as it did when it was released 30 years ago.
The joint tour will continue in Dublin on Monday (10 June 2024), before the group heads to Glasgow on Tuesday (12 June 2024) before stopping in Manchester and Cardiff on Thursday (13 June 2024) and Friday (14 June 2024) respectively.
