Jelly Roll is having legal trouble booking his first international tour.
The “Need A Favor” hitmaker has been open about his legal troubles, having been jailed multiple times on drug-related charges since his first arrest at the age of 14, and currently many countries are refusing to allow him entry into the country due to his past.
Speaking to Jon Bon Jovi for Interview magazine, he said, “I'm just figuring out the last piece of the legal puzzle that will allow me to go overseas.”
The 39-year-old musician is now able to leave the United States and has his own passport, but he still faces hardships.
He explained: “It's strange because America finally let me leave and issued me a passport, but some countries won't let me enter because I committed a felony.”
“We're working on it. I think it will work to my advantage.”
The star was arrested for robbery at age 16, charged as an adult and served more than a year in prison with seven years of supervised probation.
“I never want to lose sight of the fact that this was a heinous crime,” he previously told Billboard magazine.
“This is an adult reflection of a 16-year-old boy who made the worst decisions of his life and people could have been hurt and, by the grace of God, thankfully no one was hurt.”
The 'Son of a Sinner' singer, who also has success with the Rainie Wilson collaboration 'Save Me', revealed that learning his daughter Bailey was born while he was incarcerated for drug dealing at the age of 23 prompted him to make a change.
He recalls: “On May 22, 2008, during the afternoon of my incarceration, a prison guard knocked on my cell door. 'Your baby was born today,' he said.”
“I've never had anything happen in my life that made me realize at that moment that I needed to do something different. I need to figure this out right now.”
