Ice Spice have announced that they will release their debut album, 'Y2K', next month, followed by their first world tour.
The 24-year-old rapper revealed that his highly anticipated debut LP will be released on July 26th, after which he will embark on his “Y2K! World Tour.”
Taking to Instagram to announce the album's release date, Ice Spice performed a cover of “Y2K,” adding: “YYYY THE 'Y2K' ALBUM IS OUT ON THE 26TH JULY!!!!”
In a subsequent post on the platform, the “Pretty Girl” hitmaker confirmed that she will be touring Europe and the US in July and August, and revealed that Cash Cobain will be accompanying her on the tour.
The “Munch” rapper previously revealed that his mother was the main inspiration for the album, adding that he embodies “the truest 'Y2K' aesthetic.”
“Thankfully I had my mom, so growing up I got to see her truly embody the Y2K aesthetic,” she said during an appearance on The Zane Lowe Show.
“Duck claws. Tramp stamps. Brown lip liner everywhere. Thankfully, I was inspired by her growing up. And of course, just like the internet, you know how I feel? Just like everyone else.”
Ice Spice also admitted he was “very nervous” about sampling Sean Paul's 2002 classic “Gimme the Light” on his upcoming album's track “Gimme A Light.”
She said: “We really wanted to include the authentic Y2K sample and Sean Paul is a legend, so we were very nervous.”
“And just his song 'Gimme the Light' is so iconic that I was super nervous about sampling it because I was like, 'They're not going to allow this, so what's the point?'
The Grammy winner paid tribute to the “No Lie” artists for embracing his homage.
She said: “Thankfully we were able to clear it up. Cheers to Sean Paul, he's the real deal.”
