Halsey revealed that she feels “blessed to be alive” after her ongoing health battle.
The singer is set to release her fifth album, which features one song, “The End,” in which she details her struggle to find answers about her deteriorating health condition.
“Long story short, I'm lucky to be alive,” she captioned the Instagram post. “Long story short, I wrote an album.”
The 29-year-old tagged the Lupus Research League and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in her post but did not provide any further details.
Social media posts include videos of her rubbing her leg in pain. “I feel like an old woman,” they say. “I told myself, I'll be sick for another two years,” they add, adding that she is undergoing a “rebirth” and will be “sick-free” by the time she turns 30.
“They look so sexy, they're full of energy and they're reliving their 20s in their 30s,” they said.
The carousel also featured a photo of her wearing a surgical mask and hooked up to what appears to be a blood transfusion machine.
“Today is the first day of treatment,” they said.
The lyrics of “The End” detail what they've been through.
“All these years the doctors say I'm sick / Pull out a brand new gadget / And press it against me / First a brain, then a skeleton in pain,” she sings. “When I met you, you said I'd never die / But the joke was always on me, 'cause I'm in a race against the clock.”
Halsey has previously spoken about her ongoing battle with endometriosis.
