Kate Hudson Overcomes Fear and Rejection – Music News

Kate Hudson explained that stress was the reason she delayed her music career.

The 45-year-old Oscar nominee is best known for her acting career, but last month she released her debut album, titled “Glorious.”

The star, whose parents are actress Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson, reflected on why she hesitated to pursue a musical career, saying that if she had released music in her 20s and it had failed, she would have been devastated.

She told Variety: “Rejection is generally tolerable. When you're an adult and you're trying to follow in your family's footsteps — and it's big footsteps — I don't think people realise how much strength it takes to get there. Within the industry, it can feel like you're under a microscope internally…”

“I don't know if it's the way our parents raised us or if our family is so close-knit or how happy we are in real life, but we don't value noise… We really value work. That's how we were raised and it's given us a very tough mentality for the acting world.”

She added, “But with music, I feel like I'm just so vulnerable, and if I was doing this in my late 20s, it would've been really hard for me to not be swayed by what people said. But at this age, and where I'm at in my life, I'm not afraid of rejection anymore. I just want to share it.”
