Madonna revives plans for biopic after Celebration tour ends – Music News

Madonna is working on another biopic of herself.

The Queen of Pop put her film plans on hold last year while she embarked on a tour to celebrate her 40th anniversary in music, but has now revived the project and hopes to complete the script with Universal Pictures this summer.

Ozark star Julia Garner is still set to play the Vogue hitmaker and is said to have been secretly taking singing and dancing lessons for the past year in preparation for the role.

Madonna believes the success of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Rocketman,” the music biopics about Freddie Mercury and Sir Elton John, means her film will be embraced by fans.

A Hollywood source told The Sun's Bizarre section: “Madonna has just finished touring but in her heart, she is ready to move on to her next project and fulfil her dream of making a biopic.”

“Julia remains the lead actress and the pair have been in contact and discussing ideas over the past year. They are committed to making magic happen.”

The source added: “Madonna feels Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and the Elton John biopic 'Rocketman' paved the way for her.”

“She wants this one to be more unique and dramatic than the others.

“A series of secret meetings are planned with Universal Pictures to finalize the project.”

“There's a lot of work to do, including finalizing the remaining cast, coordinating filming and finalizing the script, but we're hopeful that filming will begin within the next 12 months.”

Madonna, 65, wants to take control of her own narrative and will direct and produce the film.

She said: “I've had a great life, so I have to make great films.”

“It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people had been trying to make a film about me, mostly misogynistic men.”

“So I stepped up and said, 'I'm the only one who can tell my story.'
