Arvind Kejriwal News Live: Delhi Chief Minister leaves for Raj Ghat before producing at Tihar Jail

Today we bring you live coverage of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal being handed over to Tihar Jail. Kejriwal was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 and is set to be handed over the day after voting in the Lok Sabha elections ended on Saturday. The bail was granted to allow the AAP supreme leader to campaign amid the ongoing legal battle over a money laundering case linked to Delhi's now-repealed excise policy.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to appear at Tihar Jail today.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi's chief minister for nearly a decade, began his political career as an anti-corruption activist. But his government faced corruption allegations after implementing a policy liberalising liquor sales in 2021 that was subsequently rolled back amid investigations that led to the jailing of two AAP leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

Kejriwal said he would start by visiting the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, offer prayers at Hanuman temple and visit the party office where he would “meet all party workers and leaders.” “Everyone please take care of yourself,” he added. “I will take care of all of you in prison. If you are happy, Kejriwal will also be happy in prison.”

Stay tuned as we bring you real-time updates on Arvind Kejriwal's surrender and reactions from across the political spectrum.
