Eminem criticized for criticizing Megan Thee Stallion in new song – Music News

Eminem has come under fire for his dissing Megan Thee Stallion in a new song.

The rapper has come under fire for making light of Megan's 2020 shooting in his new song “Houdini.”

29-year-old Megan (whose real name is Megan Pete) was shot in the leg at a house party by rapper Tory Lanez, who was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the crime.

The first verse of “Houdini” features a play on words referencing the incident, with Eminem, 51, rapping, “If I asked Megan Thee Stallion to collaborate, what chance would I have of accomplishing it?”

“Feat” is an abbreviation of the word “featuring,” a term used to describe a musical guest appearance, and is also a homonym of the word “feet.”

Many fans expressed disappointment in Eminem (whose real name is Marshall Mathers) for what they perceived as his trivialization of violence against women.

“This guy is a piece of shit! Men love to bring up traumatic moments in women's lives to gain attention,” one user wrote on X/Twitter. “Keep your hands off Megan.”

“Megan is getting so many gratuitous jokes about the shooting it's disgusting and weird,” another wrote.

“I question again what's so funny about a black woman getting shot in the leg,” another wrote, adding, “Why is that the butt of jokes in every rap song? I don't get it.”

One fan summed up the general sentiment: “It just doesn't make sense to me that men, especially white people, would belittle the trauma of a black woman.”
