BTS' RM has dropped the music video for “Domodachi” featuring Little Simz, and it's just as complex and chaotic as the song.
The video features no K-pop stars, instead starring a teenage protagonist who embarks on a frenetic journey through underground tunnels in a dark cityscape, encountering violent crowd riots and a subway filled with dejected-looking commuters before escaping over a fence with the help of a friend. Switching genres and tempos, the track sees RM and Simz rap over a blend of hip hop beats and jazz instrumentals, with a tempo that matches the frenzy of the video.
“Stop kidding around, I want something cool,” the Korean artist spits in the song. “They bring out something new and I'll stay cool.”
“Domodachi” is the fourth track from RM's new album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” to have a music video, following “Come Back to Me,” “LOST!,” and “Groin.” The full album was released on May 24 and marks the musician's second studio album as a solo artist.
The 11-track album follows RM's 2022 debut album “Indigo,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Ahead of the album's release, the “Wildflower” singer has unveiled a slew of concept photos to get fans excited about the project, with each image capturing him as “an ordinary person, away from the glamorous persona he embodies onstage, enjoying free moments in everyday, familiar settings,” according to the release.
RM is currently serving in the South Korean military, along with BTS's Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Military service in the country is mandatory for all able-bodied men by the age of 28, for 18 months, but that hasn't stopped some of the members from working on various solo projects in the meantime. They're all set to reunite in 2025 to work on a band.
