Last night, Rockstar Energy Drink® and UEFA brought back the iconic Friday Night Show for the first time in over five years. The epic performance took place in the heart of London, pumping up the global hotspot with an incredibly energetic atmosphere just one night before the 2024 UEFA Champions League Final.
Last night, more than 6,300 people from around the world gathered at the iconic Trafalgar Square for the UEFA Champions Festival to enjoy a much-missed Friday Night Show performance. Attendees experienced first-hand how Rockstar Energy Drink® and UEFA worked together to transform the famous landmark location into the ultimate global celebration ahead of today's crucial final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. From a display of historic football shirts to a rousing performance by Rudimental during the Friday Night Show, music and football fans alike were able to kick off their weekend playing what they love most.
Guillaume Sablan, UEFA's head of sponsorship and licensing, said: “Rockstar Energy Drink is a valued partner of the UEFA Champions League. As a brand that continues to make great strides in the music industry and delivers amazing performances to fans, they are the ideal partner to bring back Friday night's show for the first time in five years, infusing it with an unmistakable and diverse energy. This was undoubtedly one of our best performances to date, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Rockstar Energy Drink to bring you performances that will play the music our fans love for years to come.”
Headline artist Rudimental performed hits including “Feel the Love,” “Waiting All Night” and “These Days” during their hour-long performance. The set got the crowd going, dancing energetically to the DJ's custom drum and bass sounds. Rudimental added, “The atmosphere at the show was absolutely uplifting and we couldn't be happier for music and football fans to kick off the final weekend of the UEFA Champions League here in London. It was an incredible experience to be part of an event that combined our passions for football and music.”
Capturing the crowd's rapt atmosphere was an energy-generating dance floor made up of unique tiles. These tiles captured the dancefloor's movements and compressed electromagnetic generators to create rotational motion, generating off-grid clean energy that partially served to fuel the gig. As part of the 2024 UEFA Champions Innovate programme, which aims to address modern challenges identified by UEFA and the Greater London Authority in the run-up to the UEFA Champions League Final, Rockstar Energy Drink partnered with Pavegen, the mastermind behind the technology, to install the innovative dance floor. Throughout the event, 90,971 joules of energy were generated, powering key elements of the show, including microphones and the DJ booth.
“Partnering with Pavegen not only aligns with PepsiCo Positive's broader sustainability efforts, but also with Rockstar Energy Drink's philosophy of promoting positive energy,” said Bart LaCount, vice president, International Beverage Marketing, PepsiCo. “As an energy drink brand, we are able to provide energy and experience to fans, and seeing that brought to musical performances through Pavegen's technology feels like a complete circle and a success. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Pavegen as we bring energy to music events together all summer long.”
