Dexta Daps has topped the nominations for the Caribbean Music Awards 2024. The Jamaican dancehall and reggae performer is nominated in eight categories, including Performer of the Year (Dancehall) and the People's Choice Award.
Skinny Fabulous follows with six nominations. Masika, Young Breda, Bounty Killer and Machel Montano each received five nominations. Asa Bantan, Tee Jay, Cham, Byron Messiah, Patrice Roberts, Raja Wilde, Nyla Blackman and Problem Child follow with four nominations each.
The Caribbean Music Awards recognise artists, producers and industry professionals who have made significant contributions to the Caribbean music world, and this year's nomination list includes more than 40 categories across a variety of genres including reggae, soca and dancehall.
This year's awards will introduce new categories such as International DJ, French Caribbean Artist, Latin Caribbean Artist and Buyon Artist of the Year, in addition to the Chutney, Calypso and Compa Honours.
The awards are presented by Caribbean Elite Group, which also publishes Caribbean Elite Magazine, a print and digital publication showcasing Caribbean entertainers, artists, producers, promoters, culinary, travel, fashion and entrepreneurs.
Voting is open on the official Caribbean Music Awards website at CaribMusicAwards.com and ends Thursday, June 30. The winners ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 29 at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.
